Cardiff City

Cardiff City Association Football Club (Welsh: Clwb Pêl-droed Dinas Caerdydd) are a football team based in Cardiff, and are one of the three Welsh clubs competing in the Football League, currently playing in the Football League Championship. They play their home games at Ninian Park.

Cardiff City were founded in 1899 and are the only non-English side to have won any of the three major English competitions. They won the FA Cup in 1927, during a decade when they were one of the strongest sides in the English league. They have also been regular winners of the Welsh Cup, and as the winner of the Cup in 1966-67 gained entry to the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, reaching the semi-finals in 1967-68.

Their history in recent years has been less successful but they have made some improvement in the last few seasons. In 1986, they were relegated to the Fourth Division, and over the next 14 years slipped into the league's basement division three times. In 1996 they were the league's third lowest placed team. However; a Football League Second Division playoff triumph in 2003 lifted them into the Football League First Division; and they are now just one promotion away from reaching the Premiership, which would make them the first non-English team to do so.

Stoke

Stoke City Football Club is a football club based in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Stoke is the second-oldest Football League club in the world as it was founded in 1863. The club plays in the Football League Championship, the second tier of English football.

The club’s nickname is The Potters (after the pottery industry in Stoke-on-Trent) and its home kit consists of a red & white vertical-striped shirt with white shorts and white socks. The club is currently owned by Kidsgrove Road Limited, a subsidiary of Bet365, with Peter Coates as the club's chairman. It was owned by Stoke Holding, from 1999 to 2006, which was in turn owned by a consortium of Icelandic businessmen. Coates completed his takeover on May 22 2006.

Stoke play their home fixtures at the Britannia Stadium, a 28,000 all-seater stadium. The stadium was opened in 1997; prior to this date Stoke had played at the Victoria Ground, which had been their home ground since 1878.

Stoke have not participated in the top flight, the Premier League, since the 1984-85 season when they were relegated with a total of 17 points, which would be a record low tally for twenty-one years. Stoke's first major trophy was won in the 1972 League Cup Final, when Stoke beat Chelsea F.C. 2-1 with goals from Terry Conroy, now charity patron of a Staffordshire mobility products specialist - but also employed at the club, and George Eastham who now lives in South Africa. The club have won the Football League Trophy on two occasions, firstly in 1992 and then in 2000.

Preston

Preston North End Football Club are an English professional football club located in the Deepdale area of the city of Preston, Lancashire, currently playing in the second tier of English league football, The Championship. They were the main founder member of the English Football League in 1888 and were the first English football champions.

Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers Football Club is an English football club, based in Shepherds Bush in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham in West London. The club's first team currently plays in the Football League Championship. In August 2007 QPR was bought by Formula One tycoons, Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, who sold a 20% stake to the family of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal in December of that year.

The club is commonly referred to as "QPR" or often just "Rangers" by fans. Other nicknames include the "Hoops" or the "Superhoops" (after the team's kit of blue and white hooped shirts), or the "Rs". The club's fans traditionally consider Chelsea, Fulham and Brentford as rivals owing to their nearby locations - however recently they have also developed a rivalry with Luton Town. QPR are not to be confused with the Scottish clubs, Rangers or Queen's Park.

Watford

Watford Football Club are an English professional football club based in Watford, Hertfordshire. As of the 2007-08 season, they play in the Championship, having been relegated from the Premiership in 2006-07

The club was founded in 1881, first playing at Cassio Road ground, before moving to Vicarage Road in 1922, where they remain to this day. Since 1997 they have shared the ground with Saracens Rugby Club. The club has the nickame of The Hornets due to its yellow and black strip. Watford have a long-standing rivalry with nearby Luton Town.

The club is best known for its two spells under the management of former England manager Graham Taylor. The first lasting from 1977 to 1987, when the club rose to the old Division One from Division Four, also reaching the FA Cup final in 1984 and competing in the UEFA Cup. The second lasting from 1997 to 2001, when Taylor took the club from Division Two to the Premiership in successive seasons. During both of these eras the club was owned by Elton John, who is now the club's honorary life president.

Hull City

Hull City Association Football Club is an English football club based in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. The club participates in the Football League Championship, the second tier of English football. Founded in 1904, the highest position Hull City have ever finished in the English Football League was 3rd in the second division of the old Football League. Their greatest achievement in cup competitions came in 1930, when the team reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

The club play their home games at the KC Stadium in Hull. The club previously played at Boothferry Park, but moved to their current home in 2002, with Boothferry Park set for demolition. They traditionally play in black and amber, often with a striped shirt design, hence their nickname The Tigers. The club's mascot is known as Roary the Tiger.

Norwich

Norwich City Football Club (also known as The Canaries) is an English professional football club based in Norwich, Norfolk.

Norwich are currently members of the Football League Championship (second tier of the English football pyramid). They were founder members of the Premier League in 1991–92, and played in its first three seasons, returning for one season in 2003–04. They first won promotion to the Football League First Division in 1972, and have played a total of 18 seasons in the top flight, with a longest continuous spell of nine seasons. Norwich have won the League Cup twice, in 1962 and 1985.

The club was founded in 1902. Since 1935, Norwich have played their home games at Carrow Road and have a long-standing and fierce rivalry with East Anglian neighbours Ipswich Town, with whom they have contested the East Anglian Derby 134 times, winning 51 since 1902.

The fans' song On The Ball, City is regarded as being the oldest football song in the English speaking world.

Westbrom

West Bromwich Albion Football Club (also known as West Brom, The Baggies, Albion, The Albion, The Throstles or W.B.A.) are an English professional football club based in West Bromwich, West Midlands. As of the 2007–08 season, the team plays in the Football League Championship, the second tier of English football, although they have competed in the top-flight for the majority of their existence. The club was formed in 1878 by workers from Salter's Spring Works in West Bromwich, and have played their home games at The Hawthorns since 1900.

Albion were one of the founding members of The Football League in 1888 but have won the league title only once, in 1919–20. They have had more success in the FA Cup, with five wins. The first came in 1888, the year the league was founded, and the most recent in 1968, their last major trophy. They also won the Football League Cup at the first attempt in 1966. Since the early 1980s the club has been less successful. From 1986 to 2002 they spent their longest ever period out of the top division, although there has been something of a revival in recent years, with three seasons spent in the Premiership between 2002 and 2006.
